CMI Level 2 Units

The Level 2 qualifications in Team Leading offer a highly flexible approach to learning and are designed for practising or aspiring team leaders who wish to develop their team leading skills and knowledge.

There is a broad range of units available allowing employers and individuals to tailor the size and elements of the qualifications to suit their specific needs.

AWARD

1-2 Units – 1 to 3 months

Our Level 2 Award in Team Leading lets you develop your knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a team leader by focusing on specific skills areas.

CERTIFICATE

2-3 Units – 3 to 6 months

A more extensive qualification, our Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading gives you a broader knowledge of team leading skills while focusing on the specific leadership areas appropriate to you and your workplace.

DIPLOMA

5-7 Units – 6 to 12 months

With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading gives you all the key skills and competencies you’ll need to become an effective team leader.

Unit 2001V1 - Personal development as a team leader
This unit assesses knowledge, understanding and the skills application in the area of team leading with a focus on personal development of the team leader, including the responsibilities the team leader has for team welfare.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to identify work objectives and the skills and knowledge required to meet them
  • Understand team leader’s responsibility for welfare in the work area
  • Be able to identify and reduce resource wastage
  • Understand the team leader’s responsibilities in relation to discrimination, harassment and diversity
Unit 2003V1 - Monitoring team performance
This unit tests your knowledge, understanding and capability in the area of leading the team in planning, reviewing and achieving work to meet objectives. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this unit.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the team objective(s) and plan for achievement
  • Be able to plan to achieve team objective(s) Be able to monitor and review the team’s performance
  • Understand how to evaluate work performance
Unit 2005V1 - Building work relationships
This unit tests your knowledge, understanding and skills in building good work relationships. It is about communicating effectively with your manager, the team and those outside the team. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this unit.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how to communicate and maintain working relationships with the manager
  • Understand how to communicate and maintain working relationships with the team
  • Understand how to develop work relationships outside the team
Unit 2007V1 - Providing customer service
This unit is about identifying the internal and external customer and how organisations provide the required level of service to customers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to identify the team’s customers and the level of service required
  • Be able to identify and resolve customer service issues
Unit 2009V1 - Introduction to Team Leading
This unit tests your knowledge and skills in the area of being a team leader. The tasks will enable you to demonstrate that you understand the roles and responsibilities of a team leader and that you are able to construct a work plan and communicate effectively with others in your organisation. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this unit.

Unit 2004V1 - Controlling resources
This unit assesses your knowledge, understanding and skills application in the areas of identifying, requesting, controlling and maximising the efficient use of resources for the achievement of work objectives.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to identify and source resources needed to achieve team objectives
  • Be able to manage the resources effectively and efficiently to achieve team objectives
  • Be able to identify and reduce resource wastage
Unit 2006V1 - Developing team needs
This unit assesses your knowledge, understanding and skills application in the areas of inducting a new team member and identifying, planning and implementing training for the team. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the unit.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how to plan and implement induction for a new team member
  • Understand how to identify and plan the training needs of team members
  • Be able to train a team member to carry out a task
Unit 2008V1 - Being a team leader
This unit assesses the knowledge, understanding and the skills application in the area of being an effective team leader. The tasks set out below are designed to enable you to demonstrate that you meet all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this unit.

  • Understand the organisational requirements for a team leader
  • Understand a range of leadership styles applicable to different situations
  • Understand how the team leader builds a shared sense of purpose with a team
Unit 2010V1 - Understanding corporate social responsibility
This unit is about understanding what is meant by CSR, and to assess your knowledge of the responsibilities of a team to ensure the Corporate Social Responsibility policy is followed. You are also expected to show an understanding of the effects of adopting a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy on team members, the wider organisation and people outside the organisation.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the meaning of Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Understand the team leader’s and the team’s responsibilities for Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Understand the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility inside and outside an organisation
